Introduction

The nonprofit JAIN Foundation aims to enhance the well-being of people with dementia and/or memory problems and their family members worldwide through the use of artificial intelligence and smart technological applications. The foundation undertakes various activities, including knowledge development and dissemination, stimulating scientific research, building networks among stakeholders, organizing knowledge management activities, providing advice, and other activities to support its mission.

To achieve its goals, the foundation receives income from various sources, such as monetary contributions from network participants and founding members of the JAIN Foundation, governments, subsidies, service fees, third-party donations, bequests, legacies, gifts, and other sources of revenue.

Under the supervision of the director, the foundation organizes various activities and projects to accomplish its mission, including developing a long-term strategy, strengthening governance relations and external collaborations, compliance with laws and regulations, communication and public relations, financial management and administration, fundraising, program and project management, and administrative tasks. All activities and projects will contribute to the overall benefit and purpose of the foundation.

 

Objectives and Activities of the Foundation

The foundation aims to enhance the well-being of people with dementia and/or memory problems and their family members, caregivers, or other loved ones worldwide, utilizing artificial intelligence and smart technological applications. The foundation focuses on promoting structured development processes in which artificial intelligence is integrated ‘tailor-made’ into business processes, services, and products. JAIN facilitates connections between companies, universities, healthcare and welfare organizations, and governments. To achieve this goal, the foundation conducts the following activities:

  1. Developing, acquiring, bundling, and disseminating specific product development knowledge.
  2. Stimulating relevant scientific research.
  3. Connecting networks of (representatives of) people with dementia, caregivers, healthcare professionals, healthcare institutions, governments, financiers, scientific research institutes, and product development companies.
  4. Organizing substantive knowledge management activities such as informational activities, conferences, symposiums, expert sessions, workshops, and courses.
  5. Advising through network meetings and other public events of organizations on artificial intelligence and smart technological applications for people with dementia, their caregivers, and professional caregivers.
  6. Performing all further actions related to the above in the broadest sense or conducive thereto.

 

Acquisition of Income by the Foundation

The foundation obtains the necessary funds from various sources, including:

  1. Monetary contributions from participants.
  2. Monetary contributions from founding members.
  3. Monetary contributions from governments and subsidies.
  4. Compensation for proven services.
  5. Contributions from third parties for activities undertaken.
  6. Bequests, legacies, and donations.
  7. Other revenues.

 

Activities to be Carried Out by the Foundation

 

Development and Dissemination of Knowledge

The foundation will actively engage in the development, acquisition, bundling, and dissemination of specific knowledge related to product development in the field of artificial intelligence and smart technologies for dementia care.

 

Stimulating Scientific Research

The foundation will encourage research aimed at improving dementia care through artificial intelligence and smart technological applications. This includes facilitating collaboration between education specialists, researchers, and industry experts in this field.

 

Networking

The foundation will build and strengthen networks among various stakeholders, including people with dementia, caregivers, healthcare professionals, healthcare institutions, governments, financiers, scientific research institutes, and product development companies. This is to promote the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices.

 

Knowledge Management Activities

The foundation will organize various knowledge management activities, such as informational activities, conferences, symposiums, expert sessions, workshops, and courses. These activities will focus on sharing knowledge, raising awareness, and enhancing skills in the areas of dementia care, artificial intelligence, and smart technological applications.

 

Advisory Services

The foundation will provide advice to organizations on the use and implementation of technologies in dementia care. This includes organizing network meetings where stakeholders can be informed and advised on relevant technological developments.

 

Other Activities to Achieve the Mission

The foundation is willing to perform all further actions related to our mission that may contribute to enhancing the well-being of people with dementia and their loved ones.


Management and Expenditure of the JAIN Foundation’s Assets

 

  1. The foundation is non-profit and does not hold more assets than reasonably necessary for the continuity of the envisaged activities for its objectives.
  2. The costs of fundraising and the management costs of the foundation are in reasonable proportion to the expenditures for the purpose of the JAIN Foundation.
  3. The assets are spent in accordance with the statutory objectives of the foundation.
  4. Directors may not dispose of the assets of the JAIN foundation as if they were their own assets.
  5. The foundation will keep accounting records of realized revenues and costs that are at all times accessible to the treasurer.
  6. The director is authorized, in accordance with the board regulations, to enter into financial obligations not exceeding €10,000, with a justification and proof of payment always provided.
  7. For financial obligations exceeding €10,000, a prior board decision, signed by the chairman and treasurer, is required.

 

Realization of the Foundation’s Mission and the Role of the Director

This chapter highlights the role of the director in achieving the foundation’s mission, as well as administrative tasks, financial management, and specific activities to achieve the objectives of the foundation. Annually, under the leadership of the director, the foundation will organize various activities and projects coordinated with the board to achieve its objectives. These activities will include fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and collaborations with other organizations. The director will play a leading role in planning, coordinating, and executing these activities, with the aim of promoting the foundation’s mission and increasing its impact.

 

Development of a Long-term Strategy

The director will lead the development of a long-term strategy to fulfill the JAIN foundation’s mission. This strategy will include an analysis of the challenges faced by people with dementia and their loved ones globally, followed by strategic planning and collaboration with key stakeholders.

 

Strengthening Governance Relations, Partnerships, External Collaboration

The director will actively work to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, both nationally and internationally. This includes building partnerships with prominent organizations such as Ministries VWS, BUZA, and EZK, Alzheimer Nederland, Vilans, ActiZ, and technology companies. Internationally, the director will collaborate with organizations such as INTERDEM, Alzheimer Europe, and Alzheimer’s Disease International.

 

Compliance with Laws and Regulations

Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements for ANBIs will remain a priority for the director. This includes fulfilling reporting obligations and maintaining conditions to retain ANBI status.

 

Communication and Public Relations

The director will play an essential role in communication and public relations. This will include developing and implementing effective strategies to increase the visibility and reputation of the foundation, as well as coordinating press releases and maintaining communication channels.

 

Financial Management and Fundraising

Financial management and fundraising within the foundation will be carried out by the director. This includes monitoring and reporting to the board on the financial health of the foundation and developing effective financial strategies, as well as successfully executing fundraising campaigns.

 

Program and Project Management

The director will organize and implement the development and execution of innovative programs and projects aimed at improving care using artificial intelligence for people with dementia in consultation with the board. This includes monitoring progress and managing the budget to ensure that the set objectives are achieved.

 

Administrative Tasks and Financial Management

In addition to these specific tasks, the director, in consultation with the treasurer, will be responsible for carrying out essential administrative tasks such as accounting and organizational planning. These tasks will contribute to the transparency, accountability, and efficiency of the foundation, enabling it to pursue its mission of providing innovative and affordable artificial intelligence-based services to people with dementia, their loved ones, and professional caregivers. In carrying out financial management, the foundation will be assisted by an expert.

 

Compensation Director in Line with the Public Interest and Foundation Goals

The director will receive compensation for his/her work, which will be closely linked to the non-economic activities in support of the foundation. This compensation will be determined in consideration of the public interest and social goals of the foundation.
